”The two suspects who helped Ghosn are now facing an injunction against extradition to Japan.
Two U.S. attorneys for Carlos Ghosn, the former chairman of Nissan Motor Co. who is being held in the U.S. for helping the suspect flee to Lebanon, have petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to block extradition proceedings to Japan.
In the case of Carlos Ghosn, the former chairman of Nissan Motor Company, who fled to Lebanon in the Middle East, Michael Taylor, a former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces, and his son, Peter Taylor, have been detained for helping him escape. The U.S. State Department, at the request of Japan, has decided to allow their extradition to Japan.
The two lawyers have filed a petition with the U.S. Supreme Court to stop the extradition proceedings.
Until the court makes some kind of decision in response to this, the procedure for transferring the two to Japan is expected to be put on hold.
With regard to the extradition of the two, the defense has filed a motion to halt the proceedings, arguing that they may be treated unfairly in Japan, but both the Federal District Court and the Federal Court of Appeals have rejected the motion.
