Soaring sales of Chinese smartphones in Russia

The Chinese Communist Party’s Global Times reported that sales of smartphones by Chinese telecommunications equipment giant Huawei and OPPO in Russia surged from two to three times after the invasion of Ukraine, citing Russian media.
Demand for Chinese companies increased as Western countries and Japanese companies announced their withdrawal from Russia and suspension of activities.
China, which understands Russia’s claims, is also the largest trading partner, and continues to take a negative position regarding sanctions, saying that it is not an effective approach to solving problems.
On Chinese SNS, there are voices such as ”It’s an opportunity for Chinese companies” and ”Let’s develop friendly relations between the two countries”.
