The sword was found last week at the ruins of Donau-Ries, canton.

According to the proclamation, such swords with octagonal hilts made entirely of bronze are extremely rare.

Professor Matthias Pfeil, head of the Bavarian State Monuments Preservation Office, said: ``Further investigation of the sword and the burial ground is needed to be able to classify the excavated artifacts more accurately.’’

According to the statement, it is believed that they were buried one after another in a short period of time.
