A lump of ice connected to the land overhanging the Weddell Sea breaks and is pushed out into the sea, becoming an iceberg.

This iceberg is the biggest in the world with a length of 170km and width of 25km.
It’s size is said to be bigger than Toyama prefecture at around 4320sqm.
Last week the iceberg was discovered by the UK Antarctic Research Expidition, and confirmed by satellite images from the USA National Snow and Ice Centre. Reuters news agency reported that according to experts, this is a cyclical occurrence that is not caused by climate change.
