McDonald’s cash register problem: About half of stores have resumed operations

McDonald’s Japan announced on the 19th that approximately half of its stores have reopened after an issue where some stores were closed due to cash registers not working.
On the morning of the 19th, there were a number of posts on social media stating that McDonald’s was experiencing a system failure.
McDonald’s Japan has suspended operations at approximately 30% of its stores nationwide due to a problem with cash registers not working, but it has been announced that half of those stores have resumed operations at 5pm on the 19th.
They plan to reopen the remaining stores as soon as they are ready.
They are continuing to investigate the cause of the problem, and it is believed to be ”unrelated” to problems that have occurred on some computers running Microsoft Windows.
In March, McDonald’s experienced a large-scale system failure in various countries around the world due to a system setting change, making online payments and smartphone ordering unavailable.
