Writer Miri Yu won the National Book Award
アメリカで最も権威のある文学賞のひとつ、「全米図書賞」の翻訳文学部門に、芥川賞作家・柳美里さんの「ＪＲ上野駅公園口」が選ばれました
Akutagawa Prize-winning author Miri Yu’s ”JR Ueno Station Park Exit” was selected for the translation literature category of the ”National Book Award”, one of the most prestigious literary awards in the United States.
It is a story about the life of a man who went to work from Fukushima to Tokyo the year before the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
At the award ceremony, Mr. Yanagi, who lives in Minamisoma City, Fukushima Prefecture, said, ”I want to share the joy with the people of Minamisoma who are suffering from the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear accident.”
