COP27 Negotiations to extend session run into difficulties due to ``loss and damage’’

Developing countries are demanding compensation from developed countries for damage caused by extreme weather, and negotiations are running into difficulties.
Nearly 200 countries and regions around the world are participating in COP27, which is being held in Sharm El Sheikh, a resort town in Egypt.
The first important topic to be discussed at this year’s COP is how to deal with ”loss and damage” caused by abnormal weather that is occurring frequently around the world.
Developing countries are demanding support and compensation from developed countries that have emitted greenhouse gases, and negotiations are running into difficulties.
While many developed countries showed a passive attitude, some compromises were seen, such as the EU (European Union) proposing the creation of a fund to support the ”most vulnerable countries” among developing countries.
However, no agreement was reached by the final day, the 18th, and it was decided to extend the exhibition period.
