Spaghetti imports, record high = self-restraint from going out and easy popularity-20 years

With the need to refrain from going out, last year’s import volume of spaghetti, which can be easily cooked at home, reached a record high.
According to Yokohama Customs, which knows the import situation nationwide, it reached 154,505 tons (preliminary figures) by the end of November last year, which is already 10% higher than the highest ever in 2017 (138,037 tons).
Spaghetti, which goes well with meat, vegetables, and seafood, is very popular, and Yokohama Customs believes that imports will continue to grow steadily.

At supermarkets, sales of dried noodle spaghetti have expanded since March last year.
Imports from the same month to September, mainly in Italy, increased by double digits compared to the same month of the previous year.
The popularity of pasta is not limited to spaghetti, and the import volume of macaroni by the end of November was 10,2004 tons, exceeding the highest in 2016 (11,529 tons).
