Expand national parks to prevent mega solar power plants from being built.
阿蘇くじゅう国立公園は、九州の熊本県と大分県にある国立公園です
Aso-Kuju National Park is a national park located in Kumamoto and Oita prefectures in Kyushu.
Near this national park, there are many large ”mega solar” plants that generate electricity from sunlight.
Cities and towns have told the Ministry of the Environment that they want the landscape and grasslands to be preserved as they are now.
After thinking about it for about two years, the Ministry of the Environment came up with a plan to add about 3,300 hectares of new land to the current national park and expand it.
At a meeting in Kumamoto Prefecture, experts decided it was okay to move forward with the plan.
It will no longer be possible to build mega solar power plants in ”special areas” of land that will become a national park.
