The National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan called attention to the fact that there were a series of electric kickboard accidents and traffic violations.
The electric kickboard is treated the same as a moped under the Road Transport Vehicle Law, and it is obligatory to wear a helmet and display a license plate.
Also, if the maximum speed is 20 km or more, a turn signal, brake lamp, etc. are required.
When the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan investigated eight types of kickboards sold as being able to run on public roads, the distance from braking to stopping was longer than the standard set by law, headlights, etc. It means that problems such as lack of brightness have been found.
Some consumers have insufficient understanding of kickboard laws and boarding methods, and are calling for confirmation of correct information and equipment.
