Recall about 260,000 Toyota ”Sienta” engine damage due to rainwater

Toyota Motor reported a recall of about 260,000 units of ”Sienta” because the waterproof performance is insufficient and the engine may not work in the worst case.
The target of the recall is Toyota Motor’s ”Sienta” 259,991 units, and the manufacturing period is from May 2015 to March this year.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the waterproof function of the parts between the windshield and the bonnet will deteriorate over time, and rainwater may enter the engine.
As a result, abnormal noise will be generated in the engine, and in the worst case, the engine may be damaged and it may become impossible to drive.
No accidents have occurred so far, but there have been 27 consultations regarding defects.
Toyota Motor will take measures free of charge, such as adding parts at dealers nationwide.
