A town where busses have stopped running has started a bus service themselves.
京都市山科区の小金塚は山の近くにあって、1000ぐらいの家族が住んでいます
Around 1000 families life in Koganezuka, near the mountains in Kyoto’s Yamashina Ward.
While busses were running in the city, the number of people riding them dropped so in March the bus company stopped running them.
このため、まちの人たちは自分たちでバスの運転を始めました
Because of this, the people in the town have started driving busses themselves.
With money from the city of Kyoto, they have been able to borrow a vehicle that can seat 8 people.
新しいバスは、今月1日から走っています
This new bus has been running since the first of this month.
At the most, it runs 1.6km roads in around 10 minutes 24 times a day.
They are able to freely go and stop anywhere.
People who ride it pay 1200 yen a year for gasoline.
In one day, around 100 people ride the bus.

The person who started this bus said ”Busses are necessary for peoples’ lives.”
”When I see the happy faces of people who ride the bus, it makes me want to do my best, but I worry about how long it’s going to be able to continue”, they stated.
