In the story of “My Neighbor Totoro”, an older sister and a younger sister meet a mysterious creature and they become friends.

1988年ねんに公開こうかいされた人気にんきのアニメ映画えいがです

Released in 1988, it is a popular anime film.

映画えいがに音楽おんがくをつけた久石ひさいし譲じょうさんが、監督かんとくの宮崎駿みやざきはやおさんに劇げきにすることを相談そうだんしました

Joe Hisaishi, who made the music for the film, consulted with the film’s director Hayao Miyazaki about making it into a stage play.

宮崎みやざきさんも賛成さんせいして、初はじめて劇げきになることが決きまりました

Since Miyazaki was also in favor, it was decided that the film would become a stage play for the first time.

イギリスの「ロイヤル・シェイクスピア・カンパニー」の俳優はいゆうとぬいぐるみが出でて、久石ひさいしさんが音楽おんがくをつけます

Actors from the U.K.’s “Royal Shakespeare Company” will appear with a stuffed animal, and Mr. Hisaishi will add the music.

久石ひさいしさんは「映画えいがのイメージを壊こわしたくないと思おもっていたので、劇げきを外国がいこくでするのが大切たいせつなことでした

“Mr. Hisaishi said, “I didn’t want to ruin the film’s image, so it was important to do the play in a foreign country.”

とても楽たのしみです」と話はなしています

“I’m really looking forward to it.”

劇げきは、今年ことしの10月がつから来年らいねんの1月がつごろまでイギリスのロンドンで行おこなわれる予定よていです

The play is set to run in London from October of this year until around January of next year.
