On the night of November 8th, weather permitting, a total lunar eclipse will be visible all across Japan.
A total lunar eclipse occurs when the sun, Earth, and moon are lined up, and the moon is completely hidden under the Earth’s shadow.
During the eclipse, instead of completely disappearing, a dark red moon is visible.
国立天文台によると、月食は午後6時9分ごろから始まります
According to The National Astronomical Observatory of Japan, the eclipse will begin at around 6:09 P.M.
The moon will be completely in shadow between 7:16 and 8:42 P.M., and at around 9:49 P.M. the bright light of the round moon will return.
小笠原諸島以外の場所では、天王星が月の後ろに入る「天王星食」も見ることができます
In all parts of Japan except the Ogasawara Islands, a “Uranus eclipse” will also be visible, during which the planet Uranus will be eclipsed by the moon.
Since the lunar eclipse will cause the moon to become darker, Uranus can be best viewed using a telescope or other apparatus.
