At Tokyo’s Yamanote line, a passenger’s backpack caught fire.

１６日にち午前ごぜん９時じすぎ、東京とうきょうを走はしる山手線やまのてせんの電車でんしゃの中なかで、大学生だいがくせいがひざの上うえに置おいていたリュックサックから火ひが出でました

On the 16th of September at 9am, a university student on the Yamanote line carried a backpack on his lap which caught fire.

白しろい煙けむりも出でました

White fumes appeared.

電車でんしゃの中なかはとても騒さわがしくなりました

The train became very chaotic.

乗のっていた人ひとたちは上野駅うえのえきのホームに逃にげました

Passengers got off at Ueno station and ran.

火ひは駅員えきいんが消けしました

The fire was put out by the train station staff.

リュックサックを持もっていた大学生だいがくせいは、足あしにやけどをして病院びょういんに運はこばれました

The student carrying the backpack suffered burns to his leg and had to be taken to the hospital.

警察けいさつなどは、リュックサックの中なかにあった「ヘアアイロン」という電化製品でんかせいひんのバッテリーから火ひが出でたと考かんがえています

Police think that the cause of the fire was a “hair iron” battery that they found in the backpack.

On the 16th just past 9AM, inside the train on the Yamanote line, the college student’s backpack that they placed on their knee caught on fire.

White smoke also came out.

Inside the train it became noisy.

The passengers ran onto the platform at Ueno.

火ひは駅員えきいんが消けしました

The fire was extinguished by a train station employee.

The college student’s foot was burned and was brought yo the hospital.

警察けいさつなどは、リュックサックの中なかにあった「ヘアアイロン」という電化製品でんかせいひんのバッテリーから火ひが出でたと考かんがえています

Police and such found a ’hair iron’ in the backpack and think the fire was caused by the electronic’s battery.
