More than 70% of companies where technical intern trainees work violated the law

There were about 410,000 foreign technical intern trainees working while learning techniques at Japanese companies and factories last December.
When the country examined about 9,500 companies that were consulted by technical intern trainees last year, more than 70% of about 6,800 companies violated the law.
The most common violations were working hours issues, such as overtime.
The next most common issue was workplace safety.
Some companies had overtime work of 100 hours or more a month, and some companies had overtime pay of about 400 yen per hour, which is much lower than than stated in the law.
