The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries has announced that this year’s harvest of rice for food is expected to be 6,703,000 tons, about 300,000 tons less than last year.
The result is even lower than the July forecast of 6.75 million tons.
Initially, 43,000 hectares of rice was expected to be planted for food, such as wheat and soybeans, in addition to rice for feed for cattle, pigs, and chickens, but in reality, up to 52,000 ha. was progressing
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries believes that this is the result of farmers switching crops in response to the increased demand for domestic crops due to the Ukraine crisis.
