Osaka’s Midosuji: an experiment to widen the path people walk
Midosuji is a large street in the center of Osaka, lined with department stores and brand stores.
The city of Osaka and others have begun an experiment to see how Midosuji would change if the streets were widened.
Of the six lanes for cars, two parts on both sides have been turned into pedestrian paths.
Then I put chairs and planted flowers.
There is also a kitchen car that sells food
The city and others will investigate the flow of pedestrians and traffic around, and think about how to make Midosuji more lively.

In 2025, Osaka will host the Osaka-Kansai Expo, where many people from all over the world will gather.
The city wants to promote construction to widen the pedestrian walkway so that more people can come to Midosuji.
