The motorcade departs for the funeral ceremony of Princess Yuriko Mikasa

The car carrying the body of Princess Yuriko Mikasa departed for the Toshimaoka Cemetery where the ”burial ceremony” was to be held.
Just before 9 a.m. on the 26th, Princess Yuriko’s body was placed in a hearse that pulled up in front of Prince Mikasa’s residence.
The hearse departed from the Akasaka Imperial Estate in a convoy of cars carrying members of the Imperial family, including her granddaughter and chief mourner Princess Akiko, heading for the Toshimaoka Cemetery in Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo, where the ”funeral ceremony” will be held.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to arrive, passing through the plaza in front of the Imperial Palace and being seen off by Imperial Household Agency staff and others lined up along the road.
The ”Funeral Ceremony” will be held from 10 a.m., and in addition to members of the imperial family, the Emperor and Empress and the Chief Chamberlain will attend as messengers of the retired Emperor and his wife.
