UAE, Turkish and Chinese banks delay remittances to Russian oil companies

It was reported that banks in the UAE, Turkey, and China are delaying remittances to Russian oil companies.
It seems that they are concerned about sanctions from the US government.
Reuters reported on the 27th that several banks in the UAE, Turkey and China have stepped up sanctions compliance in recent weeks, delaying or refusing to send money to Russia, citing people familiar with the matter.
In the UAE, First Abu Dhabi Bank and Dubai Islamic Bank have frozen accounts related to trade with Russia.
After the invasion of Ukraine, Western European countries set price ceilings on Russian oil exports, and in December last year, the U.S. State Department warned about the possibility of imposing sanctions on foreign banks that do not comply with the ceilings.
Regarding the delay in remittances, one source said, ``At the end of last year, banks and companies realized that there was a risk that sanctions might become a reality.’’
Last month, UAE banks were required to submit data to the US Treasury Department when conducting transactions with China on behalf of Russian companies.
