Two giant pandas newly lent to the United States have departed from the panda base in Sichuan, China.
According to China Central Television, the two new pandas being lent out this time are a 5-year-old male named ”Yunchuan” and a 4-year-old female named ”Xinbao.”
On the night of the 26th, the animal departed for the San Diego Zoo in California, USA, while being seen off by the zookeepers.
Amid rising tensions between the United States and China, pandas loaned to the United States have been returned to China one after another.However, when Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the United States in November last year, he said, ``Pandas are important to the people of China and the United States.’’ ”It’s a messenger of friendship,” he said, expressing his desire to lend out the panda.
The loan period for the two animals is 10 years, and they are scheduled to arrive in the United States on the 27th of this month.
