On March 11th, 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred.
とても大きな地震があって、東北地方の海岸には高さ10m以上の津波が来ました
A huge earthquake occurred, and a tsunami over 10m tall came to the coast of the Tohoku region.
A big tsunami has also hit the coast of the Kanto region.
An accident occurred at Tokyo Electric Power Company’s Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant due to an earthquake and tsunami.
A lot of radiation-producing substances are out and the problems continue to exist today.

国によると、地震や津波などで1万5900人が亡くなりました
According to the government, 15,900 people have died in earthquakes and tsunamis.
Over 3,800 people died from illness from evacuation.
No 2,520 people have been found
About 28,000 people are unable to return home and live in another town.
