Amazon opens low-cost online shop for the US market, appealing to “inflation fatigue”

Amazon, a major online retailer, has opened a low-cost online shop with all products under $20 as a service for the United States.
The aim is to appeal to consumers who are tired of inflation.
Amazon’s new service ”Amazon Whole” is for the United States and can be used on the Amazon app and mobile site.
Clothes, daily necessities, electronics, and more can all be purchased for less than $20 (approximately less than 3,000 yen in Japanese yen), and there are also super cheap items such as smartphone cases that cost less than 300 yen and jewelry that costs less than 500 yen.
Since we do not have inventory in Japan and ship directly from logistics bases overseas such as China, delivery will take one to two weeks.
The aim is to appeal to consumers who are tired of inflation in order to compete with leading Chinese low-cost mail order services such as Shein.
In the presidential election, a survey found that two out of three voters said the current state of the American economy was ”bad,” and many of them voted for Mr. Trump.
As inflation weighs heavily on people, sales competition for low-priced products is intensifying.
