However, Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri announced last week that it would stop exporting live chickens to Singapore from June.
He explained that it is an effort to deal with the soaring prices caused by domestic shortages.
The Singaporean government says it can secure chicken for domestic distribution, but traders point out that a sharp rise in chicken prices is inevitable.
It is expected to rise from the current $ 3 per bird (about 390 yen) to $ 4-5 soon.
A man who sells chicken with his wife at a food stall questioned where to procure the increase in the purchase price and whether the customers at the food stall would accept the increase.
