The WTO (World Trade Organization) Ministerial Conference has closed for the first time in six and a half years with the Ministerial Declaration.
In order to respond to the growing food crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, it was agreed not to impose unnecessary export restrictions that violate WTO rules and to regulate fishing subsidies that have been controversial for over 20 years.
The adoption of the Ministerial Declaration will be the first in six and a half years.
The WTO, which is unanimous in principle, could not decide anything for a long time, and dysfunction was pointed out.
This time, we hurriedly extended the meeting period by one day, continued discussions beyond the date on the final day, and managed to achieve results.
