In China, the average first marriage age has risen by about 4 years in the last 10.
In statistics announced this month by the Chinese government, in China in 2020 the average age of a first-time married person was 28.67 years, an increase of about 4 years from 2010.
Men have become 29.38 years old, with women becoming 27.95 years old.
In regards to the reason for late marriage, Chinese media analyse that ”in addition to increasing economic pressures like rising house prices, the increased numbers of women who went to university and graduate school entered the workforce at an older age”.
They also point out that values like ”marriage isn’t always necessary” are spreading among young people.
