In 1945, towards the end of World War II, Japan and the United States fought a fierce battle in Okinawa.
It is believed that about 10,000 tons of bombs remained that did not explode during the war.
American-made bombs are still being found, and the Self-Defense Forces are investigating them for danger and safely disposing of them.
