NTT’s next-generation communication platform IOWN opens for the first time overseas
NTTは光技術を使った次世代の高速大容量の通信基盤である「IOWN」のネットワーク回線を世界で初めて国をまたいで開通させたと発表しました
NTT announced that it has opened the world’s first ”IOWN” network line, which is a next-generation high-speed, high-capacity communication infrastructure using optical technology, across countries.
IOWN is attracting worldwide attention as a next-generation communication technology, and is characterized by the almost imperceptible communication delay, which is 1/200 of that of normal lines.
From the 29th, NTT opened the IOWN network line in collaboration with Taiwanese telecommunications company ”Chunghwa Telecom”
This means that data can be exchanged in near real time between companies based in Japan and Taiwan, including semiconductor-related companies.
Additionally, it is said that it will be possible to back up data without any problems in the event of an emergency such as an earthquake.
In the future, NTT aims to open the service not only in Taiwan but also in other countries and regions.
