Company in Wajima City: ``We want to do our best to provide a service that delivers meals to the elderly, etc.’’

石川県いしかわけん輪島市わじましは、お年寄としよりや障害しょうがいがある人ひとの家いえに食事しょくじを届とどけるサービスを行おこなっています

Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, provides a service to deliver meals to the homes of the elderly and people with disabilities.

届とどけたとき、お年寄としよりなどが元気げんきかどうかも確たしかめます

When we deliver the items, we also check to see if the elderly are in good health.

今年ことし1月がつの地震じしんの前まえは、170人にんぐらいがサービスを利用りようしていて、5つの会社かいしゃが食事しょくじを届とどけていました

Before the earthquake in January this year, around 170 people were using the service and five companies were delivering meals.

しかし、地震じしんで水道すいどうが壊こわれたり、働はたらく人ひとが足たりなくなったりして、4つの会社かいしゃは今いまも届とどけることができていません

However, the four companies are still unable to deliver due to water supply failures and lack of workers due to the earthquake.

1つの会社かいしゃは先月せんげつ、水道すいどうなどが直なおって、またサービスを始はじめました

One company started service again last month after the water supply was fixed.

会社かいしゃは「大切たいせつな仕事しごとなので、これからも頑張がんばります」と話はなしています

The company says, ``This is an important job, so we will continue to do our best.’’

サービスを利用りようしている男性だんせいは「自分じぶんで買かい物ものに行いくことができないので、また始はじまってよかったです

A man using the service said, ``I’m glad it’s starting again because I can’t go shopping by myself.’’

毎日まいにち、会話かいわできるのも楽たのしみです」と話はなしています

I look forward to talking with him every day.”
