Haruki Murakami wins Spanish literary prize
Spain’s ”Princess of Asturias Award” is one of Europe’s most prestigious and well-deserved prizes.
Eight awards are given each year, including art, literature, science, and sports.

It was decided on the 24th that writer Haruki Murakami will receive this year’s literary award.
Chosen from 37 people from 17 countries
The foundation, which decided the award, said about Murakami’s novel, ”It has been translated into more than 40 foreign languages and is very popular around the world.
I feel the writings of the Russian writer Dostoevsky and the British Dickens.”
He also says, ”I try to value people by writing about social problems in humorous sentences.”

Murakami is the first Japanese to receive this award for literature.
