American crayfish and red-eared slider Prohibited to sell or throw away
In Japan, American crayfish and red-eared sliders were imported for food and pets.
Red-eared sliders are also called green turtles
These two creatures have increased too much, and there are fewer places to live for fish that used to live in Japan.
For this reason, from June 1, the law has changed

It is now prohibited to import, sell, and throw away in rivers.
If you violate it, the most severe punishment is ”to go to prison for 3 years” or ”to pay a fine of 3 million yen”.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, there are about 1.1 million households keeping green turtles.
