Sri Lanka asks China for 560 billion yen in support due to economic crisis

The American media reported that Sri Lanka, which is in an economic crisis, is asking the Chinese side for support of up to 560 billion yen.
According to Bloomberg News, Sri Lanka’s ambassador to China responded to an interview on the 15th and revealed that it is seeking support of up to 560 billion yen from the Chinese side.
On top of that, the ambassador expressed the recognition that ”the Chinese side should accept this request, not an exorbitant request.”
When asked about this report, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded at a press conference on the 15th, ”We are paying attention to the difficulties and challenges facing Sri Lanka and providing as much support as we can.”
One of the causes of the economic crisis in Sri Lanka is that it suffered financial difficulties by borrowing a large amount of money from China for infrastructure development.
