The Ballon d’Or award, the best player award selected by a French soccer magazine, has been announced, with Argentina’s Messi winning the award for the eighth time in history.
The award ceremony for the 2022-23 Best Player Award, the Ballon d’Or, selected by the soccer magazine France Football, was held in Paris on the 30th, and Lionel Messi of the Argentina national team received the award.
This is Messi’s first award in two years, extending his record for the most awards to eight.
In 2022, Messi scored 7 goals at the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar tournament, led the Argentina national team to victory for the first time in 36 years, and was also named tournament MVP.
Upon receiving the award, he said, ``This joy will never fade, and I want to continue to experience it.’’
