Simplify application for Tokyo Children’s Benefits with My Number Card

Since applying for benefits for all children takes time and effort, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will simplify the application process by introducing a new method that requires you to swipe your My Number card.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s ”018 Support” is a system that provides monthly payments of 5,000 yen per person to people under the age of 18 living in Tokyo, and started last year.
According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, about half of the applications took more than 30 minutes last year due to the need to prepare documents showing family relationships and masking of documents.
If you swipe your My Number card, the time can be reduced to about 5 minutes.
Applications for newly eligible people will start from June 11th.
