1 in 10 Japanese young people have been molested, Cabinet Office survey shows
日本の若者の１０人に１人が電車の中や公共の場で「痴漢行為」の被害に遭っていることがわかりました
It turns out that one in ten young Japanese people has been a victim of ``molestation’’ on trains or in public places.
This was revealed in a Cabinet Office investigation.
The majority of victims are women
This investigation sheds light on the reality of crimes that have long plagued Japan and are rarely reported, despite countermeasures being taken by the government.
全国的な調査は２月に１６歳から２９歳の３万６０００人余りを対象に行われました
The nationwide survey was conducted in February among more than 36,000 people aged 16 to 29.
According to this, 10.5% responded that they had been a victim of molestation.

According to survey results released this month, nearly 90% of victims are women.
Approximately two-thirds of people said they had suffered damage while on the train.

Many respondents reported being victimized multiple times, with some saying they were victimized ”almost every day” while in high school.
痴漢問題をめぐっては、東京などの大都市が今世紀初めに女性専用車両の導入をするなど対策を進めています
Major cities such as Tokyo are taking measures to combat the molestation issue, such as introducing women-only cars at the beginning of this century.
