An Okinawan research group: “We managed to farm squid”.
However, squids only eat live food, and will die if the surrounding water changes, so it was said that farming them was difficult.
The Okinawan Graduate University’s Technology and Science group started researching the farming of Bigfin Reef Squid in the ocean near Okinawa in 2017.
The group had the squids lay eggs, then soon after hatched them and made the babies grow up without live food.
As the squids got a little bigger, the research group changed the size of the tank and their food, so the squids’ stress was minimized.
The result was, the eggs hatched into squids that live 90 days, of which 10% do poorly and 90% do well, as of now.
And so, the kids of the squids that grew up were able to repeat the process 10 times without problems.
