7,000 people were saved with AED ”It’s important that people around you use it quickly”
An AED is a machine that uses electricity to help a person who suddenly collapses due to heart conditions get their heart working properly.
In Japan, there are over 600,000 units in stations, schools, etc.
It has been 20 years since anyone has been able to use it.
According to an organization made up of doctors and others, AEDs have saved 7,656 lives by December 2022.
A member of the group said, ``It takes on average more than 10 minutes for an ambulance to arrive, so it’s important that people around you use the AED as soon as possible.’’

Two years ago in Aichi Prefecture, a man suddenly collapsed while playing tennis.
The man was saved because a bystander used an AED.
A person who used an AED said, ``After learning how to use it, I realized that the man needed an AED right away.’’
We listened to the voice instructions coming from the AED and checked it together as we used it.”
