Japan’s population exceeds 20 million for the first time over the age of 75

総務省そうむしょうは、去年きょねん10月がつ1日ついたちの日本にっぽんの人口じんこうを発表はっぴょうしました

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced Japan’s population as of October 1st last year.

外国人がいこくじんも入いれた人口じんこうは、1億おく2435万まん2000人にんでした

The population, including foreigners, was 124,352,000.

前まえの年としより59万まん5000人にん減へりました

595,000 fewer people than the previous year

日本にっぽんの人口じんこうは、2011年ねんから13年ねん続つづけて減へっています

Japan’s population has been decreasing for 13 consecutive years since 2011.

75歳さい以上いじょうの人口じんこうは2007万まん8000人にんで、初はじめて2000万まん人にんより多おおくなりました

The number of people aged 75 and over was 20,078,000, exceeding 20 million for the first time.

75歳さい以上いじょうの人ひとの割合わりあいは16.1％で、今いままででいちばん高たかくなりました

The percentage of people aged 75 and over was 16.1%, the highest ever.

反対はんたいに、15歳さいになっていない子こどもの割合わりあいは11.4％で、今いままででいちばん低ひくくなりました

On the other hand, the percentage of children under the age of 15 was 11.4%, the lowest ever.

前まえよりもっと、子こどもが少すくなくなって、お年寄としよりが多おおくなっています

There are fewer children and more elderly people than before.
