Softbank 3G service ending at the end of January 2024 Mainly used for ``garakei’’
「ガラケー」と呼ばれる古い携帯電話で主に使用されている3G回線のサービスについて、ソフトバンクは再来年1月31日に終了すると発表しました
SoftBank has announced that it will end the 3G line service, which is mainly used for old mobile phones called ”garakei”, on January 31st of the year after next.
SoftBank started 3G services in December 2002, but in recent years, the number of 3G users has decreased as 4G and 5G, which offer higher speeds and higher quality, have advanced.
According to the announcement on the 14th, the 3G service will be suspended on January 31, 2024 to promote the effective use of radio waves.
3G users must change plans and devices by the deadline, and SoftBank will carry out a campaign for the transition from November 16th.
Regarding 3G, KDDI has already terminated the service at the end of March this year, and NTT DoCoMo is scheduled to terminate the service at the end of March 2026.
