Dan Dan is 18 years old and the average lifespan of a panda is 20 years, so the cause of death is thought to be old age.
The troupe was given to Taiwan by the Chinese government in 2008 when the Beijing Olympics were held.
At a press conference, the Taipei City Zoo explained that ”since yesterday, he has had seizures intermittently” and ”we tried to understand the situation while exchanging opinions with Chinese experts.”
Both Taiwanese and Chinese state media reported the death of Dan Dan in breaking news.
