A group of eight people have been detained for trying to tear off a Banksy mural
Ukrainian police announced on the 2nd that they had stopped an attempt to take away a Banksy mural painted on an abandoned building near Kyiv.
The mural was cut out from the wall of the building
According to the police, there was a report that ”someone is removing the mural”, and when they rushed to the scene, they found eight people trying to remove the mural.
”Everyone has been detained and an investigation is currently underway.”
In response to the investigation, the suspect said, ”I thought that the building would be destroyed and the mural would be lost.”
On the other hand, according to Ukrainian media, the members of the group said, ”I planned to sell the work and donate the proceeds to the Ukrainian army.”
The stripped murals are currently being kept by the police for evidence preservation.
