A 52-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in her 80s and robbery in Fukushima
福島県いわき市で資産家の80代の女性が死亡しているのが見つかった強盗殺人事件で、警察は52歳の男を逮捕しました
Police have arrested a 52-year-old man in connection with a robbery-murder case in which a wealthy woman in her 80s was found dead in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture.
Susumu Kimura is suspected of breaking into a residence in Iwaki City in February last year with the purpose of stealing money and goods, and killing Yasuko Komatsu (age 85 at the time) by hitting her in the head multiple times with a blunt object.
Mr. Komatsu’s body was discovered around 7 p.m., but around noon, Mr. Komatsu was seen on a security camera near his home.
Police believed he was murdered several hours later.
Suspect Kimura was arrested in March last year for an attempted theft incident in Ibaraki Prefecture, and was sentenced to prison and was serving time in prison.
Mr. Komatsu lived alone and was known in the neighborhood as a wealthy man.
