In Tokyo, around Shibuya station, young people and people who come sightseeing from foreign countries are drinking alcohol in the streets.
Empty alcohol cans and bottles are left around. Crossing the road has become difficult and it’s become a problem.
In 2019, in Shibuya ward, during Halloween, end of the year and beginning of the year, there was a decision to prohibit the drinking of alcohol outside.
However, outside of those times, many people are drinking alcohol outside and it is causing trouble for store attendants.
このため渋谷区は、道や公園など外でお酒を飲むことを1年中禁止することを決めました
For this reason, the Shibuya ward has decided to prohibit the drinking of alcohol on the road and in the parks for one year.
From 6pm until 5am the next day will be prohibited.
The prohibition extends to Shibuya station and around Shibuya’s city hall office.
During the period of prohibition, the ward will patrol and tell people who are drinking alcohol outside to stop.
There will not be a fine or penalty.
This decision will take place starting from October.
