Public money receiving account linked to My Number: 120,000 registrations for people other than the individual will be deleted

Digital Minister Kono announced that around 120,000 public funds receiving accounts linked to My Numbers were registered in names of family members other than the individual, and that the registrations would be deleted one by one.
The Digital Agency has been calling on people to change their account to their own account, as the payment of benefits may be delayed if an account is registered in someone else’s name.
As of the 10th of last month, approximately 117,000 people had not made any changes, and the relevant people will be notified and their registrations will be canceled from around early September.
Additionally, it was revealed that there were approximately 7,000 cases in which accounts that were once determined to be personal accounts were now determined to be family accounts.
We will notify you of these matters and cancel your registration after October.
