Foreigners also gathered for a competition to eat lots of Wanko Soba
岩手県盛岡市で1日、「わんこそば」をたくさん食べる大会がありました
In Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture, there was a competition to eat lots of ``Wanko Soba’’ in one day.
This is the first time that a tournament has brought together people from all over the world.
Wanko Soba is a famous dish from Iwate Prefecture.
When the customer finishes eating the soba in the bowl, immediately add more soba and continue until the customer closes the bowl.
Approximately 80 people, ranging from children to adults, gathered for the tournament from eight countries and regions including Japan, China, and the United States.
We competed to see how many bowls we could eat in 2 minutes.
Three adults formed a team, and the Japanese team that ate 250 bowls came first.
A man on this team said, ``I’m glad to be number one.’’
I was able to eat deliciously until the end.”
大会を開いた人は「これからもわんこそばを紹介して、岩手県にたくさんの人に来てもらいたいです」と話しました
The person who organized the tournament said, ``I would like to continue to introduce Wanko Soba and have many people come to Iwate Prefecture.’’
