Taxes on alcoholic beverages such as beer have changed since October.
The tax on ``Happoshu’’ and ``Third Beer’’ which are similar to beer is lower than that of beer.
The government changed alcohol taxes starting in October, hoping to make taxes fairer.
The tax on 350ml beer has dropped from 70 yen to 63.35 yen.
The third beer price rose from 37.8 yen to 46.99 yen, the same as happoshu.
The government plans to raise the tax on beer and other products to 54.25 yen in 2026.
Taxes on sake, wine, etc. have also changed.
The tax on 1 kiloliter of sake has been reduced from 110,000 yen to 100,000 yen.
The price of wine has increased from 90,000 yen to 100,000 yen, making it the same as sake.
