Yakushima in Kagoshima Prefecture is an island with beautiful nature and is a World Heritage Site.
A lot of people come for sightseeing
Large cedar trees in the mountains, such as Yayoi cedar, are famous.
弥生杉は高さが26mぐらい、木の周りの長さが８mぐらいです
Yayoi cedar is about 26m high and the circumference of the tree is about 8m.
It is said that it has been around for 3000 years.

On August 28th, a typhoon passed near Yakushima and very strong winds blew.
After the typhoon, our guide on the island investigated and found that the Yayoi cedar had broken from the bottom.
Many trees nearby were also down.
The guide said, ``The Yayoi cedar is the easiest tree to see among the large cedar trees on the island.
I think a lot of people will find it disappointing.”
