Rachel Gunn, who represented Australia in the new breaking event introduced at the Paris Olympics, has apologized to the breaking world for the backlash caused by her performance.

In an interview on the 4th with Australian current affairs program The Project, Gunn, also known as Ray Gunn, apologized and said, ``I am very sorry for the backlash that the (breaking) community has experienced.’’

Gunn, 37, is a university lecturer from Sydney.

At the Olympics, he competed against athletes from the United States, France, and Lithuania, but was unable to score a single point and was eliminated.

On the other hand, the athlete’s distinctive dance went viral on social media, receiving various comments and criticisms.

The dance included movements that represented a bouncing kangaroo and movements such as lying on the floor and twisting the body.

インタビューでガン選手せんしゅは自身じしんのブレイキンのスタイルについて、従来じゅうらいのブレイキンと「全まったく異ことなるアプローチ」と評ひょうした

In an interview, Gunn described his breaking style as a ”completely different approach” from traditional breaking.

As for why he participated in the Paris Olympics, he said that it was the result of winning the Oceania regional competition, but confessed that he was extremely nervous about performing in the main event.

勝かち目めがないことも、自身じしんのスタイルが理解りかいされないだろうということも分わかっていたと明あかした

He revealed that he knew he had no chance of winning and that his style would not be understood.

On top of that, he added that he has no intention of participating in any breaking competitions for the time being.

Specifically, he explained, ``It’s just about having fun while participating, and even if you lose, you’ll do your best.’’

Breaking will not be included in the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.
