Toyama Prefecture Red snow crab fishing started later than usual
Fishing for red snow crab in Toyama Bay usually begins on September 1st, but this year it started on the 10th.
It was very hot and there was a worry that the caught crabs would go bad, so fishing started late.
富山県射水市の港には10日、きれいな赤いベニズワイガニ1900匹ぐらいが集まりました
Approximately 1,900 beautiful red snow crabs gathered at the port of Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture on the 10th.
That were the first crab caught this year, and the number was about the same as any other year.
From January of this year, when the Noto Peninsula earthquake occurred, to May of this year, the number of red snow crabs caught in Toyama Prefecture decreased to about 70% of last year.
A person who works in fishing said, ``I’ve been working hard after the earthquake.’’
I want people to come to Toyama Prefecture to eat red snow crab.”
