Body found 47 years ago in desert in Arizona, US, identified

The Mojave County, Arizona, Sheriff’s Office reported on Wednesday that human remains found near Lake Mojave in 1976 have been finally identified.
中米エルサルバドル出身の男性で、米国内で採取していた指紋記録と一致したという
The man is from El Salvador, Central America, and his fingerprints match those collected in the United States.
The sheriff’s office explained on social media that at the time the initial investigation into the identity of the body was conducted, there was no way to make use of the fingerprint records.
遺体は、モハベ湖近くの浅く掘った砂漠の墓でハイカーが見つけていた
The body was found by hikers in a shallow desert grave near Lake Mojave.
Investigators at the time created a portrait of the deceased person and obtained fingerprints, but they were unable to identify the person.
男性は３０～３５歳とされ、至近距離から頭部を銃で撃たれたとも断定していた
The man, believed to be between 30 and 35 years old, was also determined to have been shot in the head at close range.
同保安官事務所の特別捜査部門が今年１０月に再捜査を始めていた
The sheriff’s office’s Special Investigations Division began reinvestigating the case in October of this year.
They also identified the names and said they may have been living or working in the Las Vegas area at the time of their deaths.
この男性の親族などの存在は把握していないという
It is said that the existence of this man’s relatives is not known.
